Clay Camp at River Ceramics is here! With a heavy focus on clay and ceramics, participants will also engage in a variety of other artmaking activities to engage their critical thinking skills and imagination. Led by Harmony, former art educator and owner of River Ceramics, this five day clay camp will be filled with learning, creativity, and self-expression. Children can expect to work independently, on teams, and even in larger groups to build skills in communication and teamwork. Each camp participant will receive their own set of tools to keep once camp ends.

Camp runs 10am-2pm Monday through Friday with a 30 minute lunch break at 12. Children should bring a packed lunch that need not be refrigerated along with a water bottle or other beverage with a closed lid. Children should expect to eat outside unless weather is not acceptable. At times we may even be working with clay or other materials outside - sunscreen is always suggested just in case. 

Into the Woods Clay Camp will incorporate different elements of nature into each of our artistic endeavors (think textures, structures, methods of application - experimentation and exploration of materials will be encouraged!) Children will learn skills in handbuilding (slab, coil, and pinch) as well as receive opportunities to try out the wheel. All ceramic work created during camp can either be left to glaze by River Ceramics Studio (one color per piece) or children can return to glaze their work on their own time about 3-4 weeks after camp has ended. An email will be sent out with a link to book glazing appointments if this is the case. Please note - we will not be glazing anything during camp as we'd like to take advantage of the time to MAKE as much art as possible! We're happy with whichever option each child chooses for the glazing of their completed ceramic work. 

River Clay Camp is designed for ages 8+ (rising 3rd grader or older). Please kindly respect both the drop off and pickup times. Camp activities will begin at 10am and children should expect to be cleaned up (both their work spaces and themselves) upon your arrival to pick them up at 2pm.
